The death toll from the fire in the city of Los Angeles has reached 24, while the danger of the fire spreading to other areas of the city has not been averted.

According to the news agency Reuters, the fire that has been burning for six days has not been fully controlled, but the intensity of the strong winds has decreased somewhat, taking advantage of which the firefighters are working quickly to extinguish the fire.

The Meteorological Department has issued a red flag warning until Wednesday, saying winds of up to 50 meters per hour are expected, with gusts of up to 70 meters per hour in the mountains.

Late Sunday night, Los Angeles County released new figures, saying at least 16 people were missing and the number could rise, while 12,300 buildings and homes had been destroyed.

After the situation improved somewhat on Sunday, people returned to their homes and assessed the damage.

Fire forecaster Dennis Burns says Tuesday will be the most dangerous day, with wind speeds fluctuating for the next few days, but could be stronger tomorrow.

Expert Dennis Burns said there was a risk of new fires being fanned by winds that could spread up to two miles across.

The Meteorological Department says that in the areas that have not received rain since April 1, winds of 50 to 70 miles per hour started blowing on Sunday night and will continue till Sunday and Wednesday.

Officials have warned that Los Angeles County's population of 10 million could be ordered to evacuate at any time.

As of Sunday, the number of evacuees in Los Angeles County has reached 100,000, while warnings have been issued for another 87,000.

In the Palisades area of Los Angeles, 13 percent of the fire has been contained, while an area of 23,713 hectares has been reduced to ashes. 27% of the fire has been contained in Eaton, while an area of 14 thousand 117 hectares has been destroyed by the fire.

The California Department of Forestry says the Hearst fire is 89 percent contained.

While the fire at three other places has been controlled 100%.
